Sanderson Wiggins partner Evelyn Wiggins specializes in labor and employment law. For more than 20 years Ms. Wiggins has advised individuals, businesses and nonprofit agencies on all aspects of federal and state labor and employment laws. Ms. Wiggins’ experience touches on virtually all legal and regulatory issues applicable to employment decisions, including discrimination, wrongful termination, employment contracts, compensation and wage and hour regulations. She represents clients through arbitration and trial in cases ranging from wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment and overtime disputes. She counsels clients in administrative proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the California Labor Board. Ms. Wiggins frequently conducts workplace investigations into claims of employee misconduct, discrimination and policy violations.

A respected trainer on the subject of California employment law, Ms. Wiggins has produced and presented a series of instructional seminars for legal professionals, employers and industry organizations. Ms. Wiggins frequently speaks on topics ranging from sexual harassment, wage and hour laws and workplace privacy.

A native of Wyoming, Ms. Wiggins graduated with honors from the University of Iowa after spending a year studying in Germany. In 1983, she moved to California to attend the University of San Diego School of Law. Ms. Wiggins joined her colleagues at Sanderson Wiggins in 2003 after working as an attorney and shareholder with three established San Diego law firms.

Ms. Wiggins is passionate about pro bono and community service. She currently serves as President of the Board of Home Start, a family support and child abuse prevention agency, and previously served on the boards of Mama’s Kitchen and the Downtown YMCA. The San Diego County Bar Association recently recognized Ms. Wiggins as a “Bar Star” for her commitment to community service as part of the Association’s Lawyers Giving Back campaign. Among her favorite activities is volunteering at her teenage children’s sporting events and cheering them on in their diverse endeavors.
