Ms. Sanderson began her career at one of San Diego’s most highly regarded law firms, Luce Forward Hamilton and Scripps, where she was a member of the corporate law department for six years and ran the firm’s trademark practice. While at Luce Forward, Ms. Sanderson represented major corporate clients including high technology, manufacturing and service companies with a wide variety of legal needs.
Ms. Sanderson left the firm for a General Counsel position at Buck Knives, Inc. where she served as both legal counsel and a member of the executive management team for seven years. As General Counsel, she was responsible for all aspects of the company’s legal affairs, including identifying legal risks and corrective action, managing an intellectual property portfolio of 200+ patents and trademarks world-wide, handling threats of litigation, supervising outside counsel on pre-existing litigation, developing and managing a personal injury claims program, initiating extensive lobbying efforts with regard to anti-knife legislation, engaging and supervising outside counsel in highly specialized legal areas (ERISA, bankruptcy, regulatory matters), analyzing hundreds of legal issues and documents annually, and developing numerous preventive legal programs, policies and procedures.
As a member of Buck Knives’ executive management team, Ms. Sanderson participated in long-term strategic planning and provided business input from an objective, analytical and risk management perspective.
In 1997, Ms. Sanderson established a private practice where she acted as outside General Counsel to several San Diego high technology companies. During this time, Ms. Sanderson expanded her expertise in the areas of licensing and e-commerce business transactions.
In 2003, Ms. Sanderson and her partners founded Juniper Sanderson Wiggins LLP in order to provide a wide variety of transactional legal services to their clients.
Ms. Sanderson attended Brooklyn Law School where she was on the Dean’s List, graduated at the top of her class and was an editor of the Law Review. During law school, Ms. Sanderson served as a summer clerk to the Presiding Justice of the NY Supreme Court, Appellate Division. Prior to law school, she worked as a registered representative at Kidder, Peabody & Co.
Ms. Sanderson has served as a Judge Pro Tem in San Diego Superior Court and is active in the following organizations: Director, Encinitas Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), California Women of Influence and BNI.
